Showing Up When It Matters: Reflecting on UA Family Weekend

When Tenth & Tusk jumped in as a sponsor for the University of Alabama’s Family Weekend, we knew we didn't want our presence to feel transactional. We didn't just want to set up a banner and hand out flyers; we wanted to create meaningful connections, answer real questions, and bring a little extra joy to families navigating the college experience.

Looking back on the weekend, we can easily say: every hour of overtime was worth it.

A Weekend Full of Connection

From the moment check-in tabling started, we were in the middle of the action. We got to meet hundreds of incredible Crimson Tide parents and students. Whether we were chatting at the Off-Campus Housing Expo, enjoying the live music at the concert, or relaxing during the Jazz Brunch, the energy was unmatched.

We loved being a go-to resource for families, whether they had burning questions or just wanted to stop by and chat. To make the weekend extra special, we brought along a few fun surprises:

• The Diet Coke Bar: Keeping everyone hydrated and energized through a busy schedule.
• The Charm Bar: Giving parents and students a creative, custom keepsake to remember the weekend.
• Parent Promo Giveaways: Equipping UA families with fresh Tenth & Tusk gear.

The Real Highlight

While the giveaways and customized charms were a hit, the absolute best part of the weekend was the relationships.

There was something so genuinely endearing about seeing familiar faces throughout the days—parents who stopped by our table on day one, recognized us at the housing expo, and gave us a wave or a warm hello at the Jazz Brunch. Those repeated interactions proved that this wasn't just about brand visibility; it was about building a community.

That’s Just What We Do

Putting on an unforgettable experience takes time, effort, and plenty of late hours. But going above and beyond is simply in our DNA. We show up for the communities we serve, period.
